Board Members

Bernard Polite
President
Bernard Polite is a native of Savannah, a Tompkins High School and Knoxville College graduate. He is a retired executive of International Paper (formally Union Camp Corp.). Bernie attends Saint Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church. He also strives to serve the community through various volunteer projects. The joys of his life are his son and his son's children.
Claudia Clarke
Treasurer
Claudia Clarke is Vice President and Senior Lending Officer for Carver State Bank and has over 25 years in banking experience. She was born and raised in Savannah, GA. and attended local H. V. Jenkins High School and Armstrong Atlantic University. She is an active member of the community and serves on numerous boards and Task Force Committees. She is also a member of Speedwell United Methodist Church, where she serves as Vice Chair of Finance and President of the United Methodist Women.
Kimberly Thompson
Secretary
Kimberly D. Thompson is a native of Albany, GA and has been a resident of Savannah for 30 years. She has worked in the aviation industry for over 22 years and is a retiree of Delta Air Lines. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Savannah State University, Dual Master Degrees in Human Resources & Management/Leadership from Webster University and is a licensed realtor Kimberly enjoys traveling domestically and abroad with her family, and volunteering in her community.

  • Ruby Lipscomb
    Ruby Lipscomb is a native of Savannah, Georgia. She is a graduate of A.E. Beach High School. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Savannah State University, Masters from Armstrong State University, and the Education Specialist Degree from Georgia Southern University and has done further study at the University of Delaware. Ruby retired from the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System. She also served as a School Improvement Specialist for the Georgia State Department of Education and a University Supervisor in the College of Education at Armstrong State University. Her experiences in the field of education total 42 years. She is a member of St. Philip Monumental A.M.E. Church where she serves in various capacities. Additionally, she serves on the Executive Board of Directors of the Savannah-Chatham Economic Opportunity Association (EOA). She is also a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the Liberty City-Richfield-Southover Community Association.
  • George Bowen
    George Bowen is a retired Air Force Colonel and former interim Superintendent of Schools for the Savannah Chatham County School System. He is a graduate of California State University Los Angeles with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Criminal Law and a Masters in Public Administrations. He currently works as a Consultant specializing in project management and school administration. He is actively engaged in managing the Chatham County court house renovation project for Chatham County..
  • Stephanie Bock
    Stephanie Bock has earned her Masters of Architecture from SCAD and is a practicing local architect and business owner. She is the mother of a sophomore at the Savannah Arts academy.
  • Brenda Elmgren
    Brenda Elmgren has earned her BS in Business at age 60. Served as Chief Administrative Officer and Director of Development at the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Now retired for the second time.
  • Bonzo C. Reddick
    Bonzo Reddick was born in Rockingham, N. C., to Bonzo & Josephine Reddick, married for 37 years to Betty. He has four children, Tandi, Nsilo & Bonzo K, Also, one special daughter, Ramona. He holds a Degree in Psychology, 1968 from Johnson C. Smith University and LLB Degree from John Marshall Law School, 1975. 1968-1975 Beaufort County, S.C. Public School System. Served as Special Education and Social Studies Teacher for three years and as Assistant Principal for four years. In private practice of law from 1976 to present. Also, currently serve as a part-time Judge of the Magistrate Court of Chatham County, Georgia. Currently a member of the Savannah Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia and the Port City Bar Association. Served as the Superior Court representative to the Tri-Partite Committee which oversaw indigent defense before becoming a part-time Judge and previously served on the CUTS for Chatham County. Am a member of Living Hope Community Fellowship where I serve as a Sunday School Teacher. I was also Assistant Chairman of the Board of Trustees at St. John Baptist Church for about 20 years. He loves to golf and travel.

  • Marsha Verdree - Emeritus
    Marsha Verdree is a native of Savannah, a H. V. Jenkins High School and Savannah State College graduate. She recently received her Masters of Divinity from The Interdenominational Theological Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia. She is the Pastor of Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church in Brunswick, GA. She endeavors to serve the community through various outreach programs
